This session was really special for me - Becky was actually my dog Nox's foster mom before I adopted him a little over a year ago. I saw his scruffy little man on the Secondhand Hounds adoptions page, and immediately fell in love. When you adopt through SHH, the foster parents actually get to to choose the adoptees for their fosters, so Becky is the one that chose me for Nox, and I couldn't be more grateful for her.
We've kept in touch since I adopted Nox (both cheering on his baby steps toward being a "normal" dog and overcoming his many, many fears) and when she reached out to do family photos, I was so so excited! Nox and I drove over to Becky's house over the weekend and spent some time catching up, taking pictures, and playing in the backyard with the dogs and chickens while a light drizzle fell. It was perfect, honestly.
And while I have your attention - though I’m obviously biased - if you’re considering getting a dog, I highly recommend 1) adopting from a rescue and 2) working with Secondhand Hounds! I’ve both adopted from, and fostered for, SHH and I know firsthand how much they care about the animals that are in their care, and the attention to detail when it comes to finding pets the right homes. And while my Nox is special (read: weiiiiiiird), he’s the exception and most rescue dogs are perfectly well adjusted, adorable and perfect pets! Plus, when you adopt, especially from an organization that works with fosters, is that you can narrow down what kind of personality you’re looking for in a dog and make the right choice for you and your lifestyle. OK that’s it, I’ll get off my soap box now!
