One of the most frequent questions I get is, “What should we wear for our family photos?!” And I totally get it! Choosing outfits can be overwhelming, especially when you have to convince your kids they like the outfits too. The right clothing can make your photos shine and really capture your family’s vibe. Whether you’re going for a laid-back look or something a bit more polished, I’ve got four easy tips to help you nail your oufits!
1) WEAR CLOTHES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU
My most important tip is to stay true to yourself! Wardrobe choices that are extremely outside your comfort zone will make you look uncomfortable. Choose clothes that feel like you, but a little more “elevated”.
2) CHOOSE COLORS & PATTERNS WISELY
My biggest recommendation for family photos is to choose bold colors AND neutral tones. Stay away from loud or obnoxious patterns, and stick to more neutral ones like plaid or stripes. Here are some of my favorite color palettes - I recommend choosing 1-2 bold colors from each palette and filling the rest in with neutrals.

3) COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER, BUT DON'T MATCH
When choosing your outfits, go for complementary colors and prints without being too matchy-matchy. Opt for colors, fabric, or pattern that complement each other rather than matching exactly. If one outfit has a pattern with multiple colors, pick some of those shades to sneak in elsewhere.
4) ELEVATE YOUR LOOKS
No need to dress to the nines, but considering leveling up your outfit one or two notches. Pair a nice sweater with comfortable dark jeans, throw on a cute dress, or level up those dad sneakers with a loafer.
